Hospital Concierge Desk

Duties:

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital lobby
  • Greet patients & visitors in a warm and friendly manner
  • Set-up & breakdown coffee cart for surgical waiting area
  • Deliver gifts to patient rooms
  • Escort patients, family members and visitors to different areas throughout facility
  • Assist various departments with projects
  • Provide resources for visitors using the Ronald McDonald Room

Availability:

Monday - Friday, 4 hour shifts from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Specialty Clinic Concierge

Duties:

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the lobby
  • Greet patients & visitors in a warm and friendly manner
  • Answering inquiries: responding to questions about services provided, directions, and general facility details
  • Provide guidance to patients, family members and visitors to different areas throughout facility
  • Mobility assistance: providing wheelchair, if needed

Availability:

Monday - Friday, 4 hour shifts from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Pediatric ICU

Duties:

  • Bring activities/toys from playrooms to patient rooms
  • Offer respite for parents by sitting with the patient
  • Assist nursing team by stocking supplies, as well as non-medical situations with patients
  • Assist with cleaning of equipment/toys

Availability:

24/7, 4 hour shifts

Ronald McDonald Family Room 

Duties:

  • Stock refrigerator, counters and cabinets with supplies provided from the Ronald McDonald House. 
  • Meet and greet families with a positive and caring attitude.
  • Respect all manners of confidentiality.
  • Clean refrigerator, cabinets, counters of any outdated snack/food items.
  • Check all equipment for signs of damage or repairs that may be needed and report to front desk staff and the Director of House Operations. 
  • Report to the Director of House Operations any needs or concerns. 
  • Keep bathroom stocked with wash cloths and towels for families, check for puddles and damage, report to front desk staff and the Diretor of House Operations. 
  • Keep laundry area stocked with laundry detergent. 
  • Sign in and out on volunteer sheet, have families sign in on guest visit sheet. 

 

Availability:

Monday - Friday, from 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM     2 - 4 hour shifts


Child Life

Duties:

  • Supervise, clean and stock playroomss and other spaces maintained by the child life program. 
  • Deliver toys and materials to patient rooms.
  • Be a good role model for families and promote a fun, enjoyable atmosphere. 
  • Accompany children to the playroom or other scheduled child life activities.
  • Provide continuiity of care by giving regular feedback to the child life staff on the activites and staus of patients. 
  • Assist with any other additional tasks as assigned by the child life team or volunteer services.
  • Interact one-on-one with pastients as needed (please understand that we cannot guarnatee that our volunteers will experience direct patient care interaction.)

Availability:

Monday - Friday, 4 hour shifts from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM


Pet-Assisted Therapy

Duties:

  • Provide interaction with an animal that facilitates change in the person's physical, emotional, social or cognitive status
  • Play the dual role of engaged visitor and responsible animal handler
  • Bathe or groom (when applicable) animals prior to your visit
  • Keeping all documentation of pet vaccines and certification current with Volunteer Services

Qualifications:

You must:

  • have your own companion animal (dog)
  • be aged 18 or older
  • be comfortable with the population served
  • be reliable, punctual, patient, and good humored

Your animal must:

  • be at least one year old
  • be certified through Pet Partners: Alliance Therapy Dogs or Therapy Dogs Inc
  • be current on all vaccines
  • be non-aggressive in all situations
  • be spayed or neutered

Availability:  Not accepting volunteers at this time

 

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Duties:

  • Provide therapeutic talk and touch

(You won't feed, change diapers, or walk around with the babies)

24/7, 4 hour shifts

Cookie Cart

Duties:

  • Make, bag, and distribute cookies to patients to offer a bit of comfort

Availability:

Currently filled

Physical / Occupational Therapy

Duties:

Assist with decorations

Assist therapists with patient centered activities

Clean equipment, stock supplies

Availability:

Monday - Friday, 4 hour shifts from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Gift Shop

Duties:

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the gift shop
  • Greet patients & visitors to gift shop in a warm and friendly manner
  • Maintain store business practices and procedures
  • Answer questions of patients, family members and visitors regarding gift shop products
  • Deliver gifts to patient rooms
