Position Title: Volunteer

Department: Varied Inpatient Departments

Position summary

Spend time with patients in house, assisting them with activation/use of the MyBSWHealth phone app, provide general information about the hospital and its amenities, and more. Volunteer must be someone comfortable with a lot of walking, meeting many new people each day, and adapting to situations as they happen.


VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT TO ENTER ISOLATION ROOMS


Roles/Functions

  • Visit patients in their rooms and create a personal connection
  • Greet patients/guests in the rooms and hallways and be available to answer non-clinical questions
  • Keep track of tasks completed
  • Give directions or support guests as needed
  • Adapt to evolving rounding program week over week
  • Assist in general duties as requested by nursing staff

Position Title: Volunteer

Department: Emergency Department

Position summary

Support clinical staff by performing non-clinical tasks related to department. Volunteers are not able to provide hands-on care of patients, perform any duties which will result in contact with bodily fluids or handle soiled linen or soiled items. Enhance hospitality with courteous communication with patients, family members and visitors.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT TO ENTER ISOLATION ROOMS

Roles/Functions

  • Greet patients/families and assist by answering non-clinical questions
  • Escort or transport of low acuity patients to triage area, ED treatment rooms
  • Provide ice packs or warm blankets to patients in waiting room
  • Give directions and/or escort patients/families to other areas of the hospital
  • Restock departmental clinical supplies as directed but not limited to the following: nurses' station, supply cubbies, rooms, blanket warmer, triage/fast track area,
  • Check expiration dates on supplies
  • Keep waiting room tidy/wipe down chairs
  • Refill blanket warmer and wipes warmer
  • Round on patients to offer warm blanket, ice packs, pillow, help with the call-buttons, lights or TV (only as directed by charge RN
  • Assist in clerical duties such as filing, running errands, copying, etc. as assigned

Department: Front Desk

Position summary

Volunteer is responsible for creating a warm welcome for patients, families, and visitors as they enter the hospital.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT TO ENTER ISOLATION ROOMS

Roles/Functions

  • Greet patients/families and assist by answering non-clinical questions
  • Give directions and/or escort patients/families to other areas of the hospital
  • Assist with sorting mail
  • Other duties as requested by department leadership

  • Attention to detail and ability to fulfill responsibilities set forth by department
  • Demonstrate empathy and good listening skills
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures

Position Title: Volunteer

Department: Inpatient Units

Position summary
